Here comes the long weekend!

I haven't posted lately for a number of reasons - busy at work, getting ready for a likely Portland move this summer, enjoying the Seattle sunshine, and I recently joined Facebook which is (embarassingly) addictive.

We're having a fun spring. We recently had a bunch of friends over for dinner and they brought their dogs -- four dogs racing around the house and yard! Queets loved it.

And, we're looking forward to Memorial Day Weekend. John and I are hopefully going for a hike out on the Olympic Peninsula. It will be nice to have a weekend at home together, since he has been traveling quite a bit for work!

The video

Along with the New Belgium Beer magazine ad, there's a (G-rated) video they made of the photo shoot. I appear (clothed) a couple times, talking about the river.

The video is on New Belgium's web site (under playlist, click "White Salmon River").

You can see how bundled up we all are -- trying to avoid hypothermia!

Jim in Seattle!

Joy's hubby Jim was in town for work last week, and we toured around Seattle on Saturday. It was great to see him! Joy gave Jim a list of not-to-be-missed sites, and we managed to cover them all! Coffee in Fremont, Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, fish and chips on Alki beach... John and I are looking forward to seeing the Ferrante-Becks next month, when we're in DC!

Here's Jim proudly displaying the list --

The Calder "Eagle" sculpture...otherwise known as "the red thing"

Here we are at Pike Place Market. It was the day before Mother's Day, and somebody had a big banner that said "I love my Mom" --

Paint, round 2

Well, the paint that John got the other day for our bedroom closet doors didn't work out. It was too light-peachy. At least we both agreed! He is in Portland now for work, so I got new paint last night and hope to surprise him with the new (and hopefully improved) painted doors upon his return on Friday.

I didn't start painting after work yesterday because Seasons 1 and 2 of The Office arrived via Netflix. I stayed up until 12:30 watching them. There were lots of episodes I haven't seen, and I totally love that show.

Joy's husband Jim is in Seattle over the next several days for work. We're hoping to see him Friday after work, and then on Saturday. Depending on what he wants to do, I'm thinking we can head to Pike Place Market, and then the new outdoor waterfront sculpture park. And then maybe Alki Beach, near our house. I just hope the weather is nice...

Weekend fun

This weekend we painted our bedroom. When we bought the house four years ago we went on a color spree, painting the bedroom "terracotta" with a "paprika" ceiling. It was fun, but we got tired of it. So now it's "durango dust" with a "butter pecan" ceiling (basically ivory, with a lighter ivory ceiling). Much better! I just talked to John and he stopped by the hardware store for paint for the closet doors. It's supposed to be some kind of pumpkin (not gross, and not "harvest" orange), for a splash of color. It will be a nice change, and if we end up selling the house and moving this summer/fall, it will spiff the place up nicely.

Ok, so now that my boring update is out of the way, Bobby got to test drive a bunch of awesome cars recently at the World Class Driving center. Here he is with the Lamborghini and another car. (Hmm, is that the same color orange as our new bedroom closet? I kind of hope not!)
