Montana - last day at the cabin

Possible Christmas card photo?

Montana: the cabin

The cabin has been in John's family since Bert's (John's step dad) grandfather bought it back in the 1930's.

Prickly Pear Creek flows right by the cabin...

The dinner bell...

Montana, day 7 (Sat, July 14)

John got up early again to fish with Rex. Bob, Sara and I drove in to Helena for a morning with mom and dad in town. Strolled the galleries, played in "Lasso the Moon" toy store, bought chocolate and fresh-squeezed lemonade, and of course went back to the Base Camp.

Bobby's tablecloth artwork at Cafe Artemis. The waitress asked if he had an agent!

Miners...

Cool mural...

Drove to the airport at 2pm. John and Rex met us there. Lots of tears (mom and Amy). Sad to see everyone go after such a great trip.

Montana, day 6 (Fri, July 13)

Today was another lake day at Lorelei. Pretty mellow. Even Queets was mellow - no whining!

We had dinner with Rex and Angie in town at Karmadillos, then went to the Tony Furtado concert at Women's Park.

Montana, day 5 (Thurs, July 12)

John woke up at 5:30 am to go fishing...the rest of us went for a hike in Refrigerator Canyon -- a fun, narrow canyon with a stream running through it and cool breezes.

We had a BBQ at the cabin for dinner -- Rex, Angie and kids came over.

We played horse shoes and ate watermelon.

Montana, day 4 (Wed, July 11)

Today was a relaxing "cabin day". Hung out, read, etc. After a while we piled in the car for the short trip to Boulder Hot Springs.

Had dinner at the Mediterranean with John's mom. After dinner Mom, Dad, Bob and Sara saw the new Die Hard movie. John and I went to Rex and Angie's to say hi.

Not many pictures from this day because I think we were all exhausted.

Man of the Elkhorn Mountains!

Montana, day 3 (Tues, July 10)

A river runs through it...

Today we floated the Missouri from Craig to Spite. This is where John used to guide. Saw antelope on the way to the river. We had a drift boat and two canoes. John, Dad, Bob and Sara all fished. Dad caught the first fish of the day, a lovely 14-inch brown trout.

Fun day. In addition to fishing, we swam, skipped stones (dad is the champ) and let Queets run around on the islands.

Saw hawks, mergansers, pelicans and swallows.

Took out at 6pm, headed back to town. Tasty italian dinner at "On Broadway" in Helena.
