Dad meets George W.

Dad was recently at an event for work and had his picture taken with the president.

Which is funny because John was hanging out with Al Gore just the other day!

American Rivers staff retreat

We recently had a staff retreat on Kent Island in the Chesapeake Bay. It was fun, and we got to paddle part of the brand new Captain John Smith Water Trail (the first national water trail in the U.S.) -- if you're in the DC/Baltimore area, it's a fun thing to do.

Here's a photo of a colleague and me -- playing the canoe game my cousins taught me at Porter's Lake in PA (I lost -- I fell in first -- but I've already scheduled a rematch)

Montgomery Village visit

On Father's Day I met up with mom and dad in DC. Had a fun morning and lunch, then mom drove me to M.V. on her way to PA. It was great to see Joy and Elizabeth! We hung out at North Creek pool then went for a walk through our old neighborhood.

Here's Joy, Amy and Elizabeth at the pool...

The record board...

How many laps did we swim here, from age 8-18? ...

Amy and Eliz...

When we got to 20341 Bickleton, Elizabeth said, "Remember when we carved our names in the basketball court when the cement was being poured?" I had totally forgotten, but our names are still there (along with Bobby's friend Kirk and our cat Boots)

Bobby also wrote "Rad". It was 1987.

They're doing major renovations on the back of our house. The deck is gone and it looks like they've put an addition on the kitchen.

School's out for the summer!

Hooray to mom for surviving another school year. Now you can really get serious about tennis.

Here are our great friends John and Amy (yes we all have the same names) with their adorable baby Marco. Photo taken at River Rally, a conference on the Columbia River.

Great photo by John. He likes to fish for steelhead here.

Happy Father's Day!

Only five days away! Looking forward to spending Father's Day in DC with mom and dad, then seeing Joy and Elizabeth in Montgomery Village!

Bobby wins stuffed armadillo!

Congrats to Bob, who won a stuffed armadillo for placing third in his age group in the Dilloman sprint triathlon in Austin!
Note the vintage DC-101 t-shirt.
