Re-cap

Wow, lots has happened since our last post! Here's a re-cap:

* Getting ready for spring - moving garden beds, pulling weeds, digging up old roots and rhodies...I'm obsessed with our yard and gardening. No actual seeds/plants have been put in the ground yet, but we're doing lots of prep work. I've realized with gardening the fun is the journey, not the destination...basically, I just like being outside. So does August. We find worms, and he carries them around and talks to them.

* Potty training! (or as some people say "toilet learning") - this snuck up on us out of the blue. We were half-heartedly doing it, and then a week ago it totally caught on. #1 and #2 in the potty, all the time. Lots of jelly beans, M&M's, and sweethearts (I love how August says "sweetheart") have been doled out - not so much anymore, I'm getting worried about cavities. Wow, August, you are all of a sudden such a big boy.

* Old friends - Elizabeth and Cathy came to visit. We had dinner at our house Fri night (spicy chicken soba, an old Cooking Light recipe that I can't find online, but is similar to this, and homemade lemon bars).

What else...baking Irish soda bread...John going spring chinook fishing today for the first time this season...we finally finished all the seasons of Friday Night Lights (shedding a tear)...getting out the Easter decorations, and August pretends the ceramic eggs are dinosaur eggs...

Willamette Valley

Long weekend at the Allison Inn and Spa, wine-tasting with great friends from Seattle. Thanks mom and dad for watching our little Auggie Bear!

Quick one night trip to Outside Magazine's office for a meeting. Downside- too fast to really enjoy NM. Upside- home now with my boys.

Perfect Sunday

* Woke up early to find John still watching the Australian Open men's final (heartbreaker Nadal!)
* Took August for a run in the stroller and a big brilliant full rainbow kept us company for the last 15 mins.
* August took a morning nap, which gave John and I more time to snooze, read, and drink tea as the rain poured down outside. Cozy.
* After a grilled cheese, we went to the dog park. Is there anything more fun than playing outside in rain puddles with a 2 year old boy?
* Read new dino books from the library
* Fell asleep on the couch together, 2nd nap of the day for both of us. Is there anything more snuggly than cuddling up with a 2 year old boy for a nap?
* John and August had a boys night and made dinner and root beer floats, while I went to a friend's house for dinner.
* Our wonderful neighbor was at our house when I got home, with multiple bottles of wine! We stayed up until midnight.

Memorable trip to the grocery store

August belted out songs from Dinosaur Train the whole time we shopped...then puked apple cider and oranges (the store's free samples - I guess we went overboard) all over our groceries.

Then he kept singing as the nice New Seasons guy helped us clean up, while telling everyone who walked by, "I puked!"

I know people were giving us the evil eye but I couldn't stop laughing.
